Love Your Home - Life Style Blog from Pacific Home Furniture
Fall is a favorite time of year for Pacific Home Furniture. Is it one of your favorites?
The changing of seasons has a way of inspiring us to decorate our home in a new and fresh way. Can I share with you ideas to transition your home with the colors, textures and décor of the autumn season?
Let's get started outside. Keep in mind when decorating your front door or porch you can add natural elements not just pumpkins. Look for autumn branches to tuck away in your planters. Mums, asters, kale, pansies and marigold are just a few fall flowers you can use in containers. The choices and combinations are endless.
You may not have a turquoise door, but you can see how it can still be used with the pop of orange from the pumpkins, the white porch, white planters, flowers and the changing foliage.
Lanterns are an easy way to bring fabulous fall decor to the outdoors. Mixed in with the rattan pumpkins the lanterns add instant glam to this stone pathway and rustic gate door. Doesn't this image speak of warmth and welcoming?
The changing of seasons can demand a new paint scheme. When using the bold color of orange or a color in the orange family, tone it down with browns, deep reds and creams.
What is it we really look forward to each fall season? Do you love pillows, throws, poufs, blankets and rugs? These are the things that make a house cozy, warm and inviting.

Love Your Home Series by Pacific Home Furniture: The Last Hurrah to Summer
The Labor Day Weekend is fast approaching. How did it get here so fast? Was your summer as jammed packed as ours? Did you accomplish everything on your summer to do list?
We hope you did and that you feel a sense of accomplishment or perhaps just more relaxed!
Isn't Labor Day just a holiday for banks to be closed? No, Labor Day is a tribute to the working men and women and for many of us the end of Summer.

Isn't Labor Day just a holiday for banks to be closed? No, Labor Day is a tribute to the working men and women and for many of us the end of Summer.
Pacific Home Furniture is looking forward to the Fall season, but we want to share with you The Last Hurrah to Summer. We have included great ideas for you to relish this last bit of summer living.
1. Have a party or a back yard BBQ. Decide in advance if your get together will be pot luck or how you would like to handle the menu. Be sure this is on the invitation. Have your guests contact you if they will be attending and if you have decided on potluck, this would be the time they can share with you, the dish idea they will be bringing.
2. The park is always a place to have a fun family day. Hiking, a baseball game or if everyone is up for it a game of touch football.
3. Put together a camping trip right in your own back yard. Once the tent is set up, wiki How has more ideas, so I am going to let them convey my thoughts for this fun family activity.
4. A weekend getaway. Condé Nast said, according to Expedia, data has proved, "We may be procrastinators if we are just now planning a Labor Day weekend getaway." (Though we prefer "spontaneous.") "Turns out 80% of us wait until August to book that weekend getaway." Let them show you their 12 Great Last-Minute Labor Day Getaways. They have included air travel guides, best restaurants and how to visit Disney like a pro. This one gets my vote.
5. Have a picnic (this can be combined with the park idea). Just add your favorite foods.
All Recipes has every recipe imaginable to put together a feast for your Labor Day picnic.
We hope you are one of the fortunate ones to have a 3 day holiday weekend. Enjoy these last bittersweet days of summer because before we know it the busyness of the holidays will be here.

Simple Design and Renovation Help To Achieve The Look You Want
Hiring an interior designer may seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. These simple tips will help give you some guidance and what to expect. Whether it is a renovation transformation to your home or redecorating a room, the help of an interior designer can give you the desired results you want to accomplish.
Just how do you find the right interior designer? There are many resources, especially the internet, but word of mouth is the best. Ask your family and friends for referrals.
When meeting for the first time be prepared to share with your designer photos from magazines or other resources that interest you. The designer should also bring to the meeting ideas that may be helpful. This meeting is always a useful experience and creates conversation pointed toward your goal.
There are many questions a good designer will ask. Here are just a small sample of getting to know you and your needs.
- How many people live in the house? How many are children? Do guests come and stay overnight?
- Are there pets in the house? This could affect your choice of finishes.
- How old is the wiring? Will it need replacing? This question generally involves a renovation.
- What are your taste in styles and furnishings? Minimal, Traditional, Contemporary, Coastal, Rustic. Possibly you want to mix several.
- What colors do you like and dislike?
After the initial consultation, there will be several other meetings with your designer, which will include talking about a budget, a trip to go window shopping to find out more about your tastes, a floor plan, a sample board, (this is one of the easiest ways to see how the design will look), then the perspective drawings of the proposed scheme. All of this will bring to you, the client, a clear prospective of the final design. Once everything is decided and the interior designer has the okay from you, all the work will be scheduled to bring the design to completion.
Here are some simple tips you can do to start making a design statement in your home.
Rearrange your furniture (it's free!) Turn your biggest piece of furniture toward a focal point, such as a fireplace or window. Or angle a sofa, chair or bed away from your wall. If you don't like how it turns out, try again. Via BHG.
